Study on Thermal Runaway Propagation Characteristics of Lithium Iron Phosphate Battery Pack under Different SOCs

Thermal runaway (TR) of lithium-ion batteries (LIBs) has always been the most important problem for battery development, and TR characteristics large LIBs need more research. In this paper, thermal propagation (TRP) behavior changes three lithium iron phosphate (LFP) (numbered 1 to 3) under different states charge (SOCs) were studied. The main parameters discussed include temperature, temperature rise rate, mass, mass change TRP flue gas ejection behavior. experimental results indicate that with increase in SOC, is obvious. higher blocked loss greater loss, shorter time can be observed. interval 100% SOC 2 71.4% smaller than 50% while 3 reduced by 87.2%. addition, a pack exhibits spark ejection, 0% exhibit generation.
